The Coffee County Red Raiders finished their regular season district play on Tuesday night at Powers Field in Manchester.
Coffee County defeated the Shelbyville Golden Eagles 6-0 to complete an 11-1 record in District 6 Class 4-A. They are currently 15-8 overall, with two games remaining before the district tournament begins.
The Red Raiders got five of their six runs in the first inning. Aiden Robertson, Nolan Jernigan, Nate Rutledge, and Brendon Sheppard all contributed to the big inning with RBIs.
Carter McKenzie pitched an outstanding game on the mound. McKenzie went six innings, allowing only three hits while striking out seven. Timothy Henderson threw a perfect one-inning in relief. Jaquai Beverly suffered the loss for Shelbyville. The pitcher surrendered six runs on six hits over five and a third innings, striking out six.
Jernigan led Coffee County with two hits in three at-bats, and Rutledge knocked in two runs.
The Red Raiders with play host to the Baylor Red Raiders on Friday at 6 PM and finish the regular season with a home game on Monday against Lincoln County, also starting at 6 PM.
