Scams, Scams and More Scams

Please be aware the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department has received calls regarding a phone scam that is happening again.

The callers identify themselves as members of the sheriff’s department and advise victims that they have an active warrant and if the victim pays a fee this will satisfy the warrant and they will not be arrested.

The scammers request Green Dot cards or other forms of payment. Please know this is a scam and no one at the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department will be contacting you by phone and request payment for anything.

Please just hang up and disregard these calls. If you or any you know has fell victim to this, please notify your local law enforcement.


The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department has received several calls concerning a message being sent to folks on Facebook from an “Officer Sheppard” asking for information.

Sheriff Clint Shrum says his department does not have a deputy by that name. He added his personnel will never ask for personal information on social media. If you receive a message like this, please do not give out any information and block the person.
