Sewanee Children’s Center Changes Information, Now Reports Parent Not Positive, Yet

Last week we reported that a parent of child that was at the Sewanee Children’s Center had tested positive for the Coronavirus. The SCC director immediately called the local and state health authorities once she was notified on March 19, 2020.
The SCC director also notified the schools parents and teachers as well as the parish administrator of Otey Memorial Parish as an extra precaution so that all could be as informed as possible on the same day. The center is now reporting something different. They say new details has been shared with SCC that this case is being treated as a “presumptive positive”, meaning that this parent has symptoms that are consistent with COVID-19 and the health authorities are treating it as positive yet the test results are technically “negative.” Because the symptoms are all positive, the parents’ physician at the urgent care center thought the parent should proceed with a 14-day quarantine, to be on the safe side. This person has shared they are taking all of the appropriate steps and precautions to self-quarantine within their home.
