Shelbyville baseball falls to Lincoln County on the road

Shelbyville Golden Eagles watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-5 loss to Lincoln County on Tuesday. Lincoln County Falcons scored on a single by McAdams in the first inning, a sacrifice fly by Stubblefield in the second inning, and a single by Anderson in the second inning. 

Lincoln County pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Stubblefield’s sac fly scored one run for Lincoln County, Anderson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and a sacrifice bunt by McAdams scored one run for the Falcons. 

Smith was the winning pitcher for Lincoln County. The bulldog went two and a third innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out four.

Marquis Wilson took the loss for Shelbyville. The righthander allowed four hits and four runs over two innings, striking out one. Logan Roberts led the Golden Eagles with two hits in two at bats. Shelbyville didn’t commit a single error in the field. Aiden Edwards had the most chances in the field with four. Edwards led the Golden Eagles with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases. 

Lincoln County Falcons totaled eight hits. McAdams and Atchley all managed multiple hits for Lincoln County. Falcons stole four bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Smith led the way with two. Lincoln County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Stubblefield had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.
