State will Not Share Data with the Public from School Cases of Coronavirus

As students get back to the classroom, Tennessee leaders say there will be school-related COVID-19 cases. With that being said, they also report that the state Dept. of Health does not plan to share any data from school cases.

Tennessee Dept. of Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey said school-related COVID-19 cases will not be made public.

Some parents and teachers that spoke to On Target News say this is simply wrong.

One parent told us that she’s afraid that some children will come to school because even though they might not show symptoms, they could still be infected, and nobody would know.

A local teacher said they were really concerned about a huge outbreak and with no information being released it would make things worse.

Some other parents and teachers say they trust what Tennessee leaders and the state Dept. of Health continue to do during the pandemic.
