Tennessee’s statewide unemployment rate for January is 3.3 percent, according to data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
January is the third consecutive month Tennessee has recorded an unemployment rate of 3.3 percent. It is also a drop of one-tenth of a percentage point when compared to the rate of January of 2019.
Tennessee employers added 6,500 new jobs between December and January. When comparing January of last year with January 2020, employment grew by 46,100 positions statewide.
The national unemployment rate for January was 3.6 percent, a slight increase over the 3.5 percent rate of December.
