Tennessee sophomore quarterback Harrison Baily announced on twitter Wednesday he has entered the transfer portal.
“Dear Tennessee, thank you for allowing me to pursue my academic and athletic career here at this prestigious university,” Bailey said. “ I would like to thank everyone that has helped me develop into the person I am today, on and off the field. To my brothers: I love you guys. We made a lifetime of memories over the last few years. Thank you for always supporting me through thick and thin. It’s with a heavy heart, I would like to announce that I will be entering my name into the transfer portal and exploring other opportunities.”
Bailey ended his freshman season in 2020 as Tennessee’s starting quarterback, after appearing in six and starting three games for the Vols last season, but a change in coaching staffs and offensive philosophy has left Baily third on the depth chart behind Hendon Hooker and Joe Milton in 2021. Baily has played in just one game this season the 56-0 blow out of FCS Tennessee Tech in week three. He completed 3 passes for 16 yards and ran 4 times for 8 yards.
Baily will have a full four seasons of eligibility remaining as his 2020 freshman season didn’t count when the NCAA granted a free season of eligibility to all players because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because he’s only played in one game in 2021 he can apply for a redshirt for this season as well.
