Traffic Deaths Up in Tennessee

The state of Tennessee is poised to mark a six-year high in traffic deaths.
According to data published by the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security, as of December 9, 1,039 Tennesseans have died in traffic incidents.
Data from the department from 2014 through 2018 shows 2018 was the deadliest year, totaling 1,041 traffic fatalities, just two more than this year’s total with 22 days still left in the year.
Tennessee has already surpassed the previous six-year high of traffic deaths involving teen drivers with 120 reported year-to-date. The previous high was 103, recorded in both 2014 and 2016.
