Tullahoma baseball out slugs Dobyns-Bennett

The Tullahoma Wildcats snagged a late lead and defeated Dobyns-Bennett 22-12 on Thursday. The Cats trailed 9-8 in the top of the sixth inning when DJ Dillehay tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs. That opened the flood gates as Tullahoma plated 9 in the 6th and 7 in the 7th to pull away from the Indians in a slugfest in the Glad Slam Classic at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro.

The Wildcats were boosted by Evan Tomlin who went 5-for-6 at the plate. Tomlin homered in the third, singled in the fourth, singled in the sixth, singled in the seventh, and singled in the seventh. Tomlin also got the start for the cats on the mound. he went three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out six.

Wade Collins got the win for the Wildcats. The righthander allowed three hits and three runs over one and one-third innings, walking one.

Tullahoma continues play in the Grand Slam Challenge over the weekend. They’ll face Mt. Juliet tonight at Stewarts Creek at 6:30 before wrapping up the week with a Saturday double header. They’ll play Father Ryan at Middle Tennessee Christian before visiting Stewarts Creek at 6:00.

The next Wildcat baseball broadcast on 93.9 The Duck is March 26th at 5:20 pm when they host Coffee County.

The Duck will feature a trio of Tullahoma softball games over the next week. First on Sunday the Lady Cats host Coffee County at 3 p.m. Tuesday they open district 8-3A play vs Page at 7 p.m. and next Friday (March 25th) They host district foe Marshall County at 7 p.m. All broadcasts begin 10 minutes prior to the scheduled first pitch.

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
