Tullahoma knocks off Lincoln County on Senior Night

Tullahoma basketball closed the regular season with a pair of wins over district rival Lincoln County on Senior Night Thursday.

Motivated to send out their five seniors with a win and avenge a loss earlier in the season to the Lady Falcons, the Lady Cats used a dominate second quarter, outscoring Lincoln County 14-3, to build an 11 point halftime lead. The Lady Falcons surged back in the second half but led by Seniors Eleanor Fults (14 points) and Lucy Nutt (11 points) Tullahoma held on for a 50-44 win and split of the season series with Lincoln County.

Molly Brown paced Lincoln County with a game high 15.

The win moves the Lady Cats to 16-10 overall and 7-3 in district play. The Lady Falcons, who had already secured the regular season 8-3A title fell to 22-4 overall and 8-2 in the district.

Lincoln County, who wrapped up the regular season district title prior to Thursday’s game is the top seed in next week’s district tournament. They will face the Page/Spring Hill winner Friday in the 8-3A semifinals at 3:30 at Lawrence County High School. They have also qualified for the Region 4-3A Tournament.

Tullahoma won the tiebreaker with Lawrence County and will be the two seed in the district tournament. They will open the postseasonin the 8-3A semifinals against the Lawrence County/Marshall County winner next Friday at 6:30 at Lawrence County High School . As the two seed they have also qualified for the Region tournament.

In the night cap the Wildcats and Falcons swapped the lead for most the night in a tight contest before Lincoln County pulled out by four heading into the final quarter. Tullahoma was able to battle back to take a two point lead late and hold off the Falcons final push to pick up a 50-46 win.

Xavier Ferrell led all scorers in the game with 17 points. Jackson Mullins paced Lincoln County with 14.

The victory gives the Wildcat a final regular season record of 8-18 overall and 3-7 in district action. The Falcons fall to 4-20 on the season and 1-8 on 8-3A.

Tullahoma is the five seed in the district tournament and will try to extend their season Tuesday at Spring Hill. Lincoln County is also on the road in a win or go home game at Marshall County Tuesday night. Both contest tip off at 7:00.

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
