Tullahoma Picks Up a Pair of Wins vs Shelbyville

Tullahoma picked up a pair of home wins Tuesday night vs Shelbyville to close the season series with their former district rival.

The girl’s game was a low scoring affair with the Lady Cats holding a sight lead most of the night. Tullahoma looked to be poised to close the game out at the free throw line in the double bonus with 2:00 to play but a pair of turnovers tuned into baskets for the Eaglettes made it a two point game with :45 to play. Out of a timeout the Lady Cats got a bucket from Lucy Nutt to go up 4 and hold on for a 33-29 victory to sweep the season series with Shelbyville.

Nutt paced the Lady Cats with 7 points while the Eaglettes were led by Paige Blackburn who had a game high 13.

The victory improves Tullahoma to 4-7 overall, they’ll host Moore County in the Jeff Taylor Christmas Classic today at 5:00. Shelbyville drops to 3-6 on the season and will return to action December 28th vs Gallatin in the AFLAC Classic at Watertown High School.

In the night cap the Wildcats used an 18-4 third quarter run to pull away from the Golden Eagles and earn a split of the season series with a 62-41 win.

Deandre Jenkins once again led Tullahoma in scoring with 14. Tae’Shawn Shelton and Kyler Trice paced Shelbyville with 7 points apiece.

The victory improves the Wildcats to 3-7 on the season, while the Golden Eagles to 2-12 overall.

The Wildcats play Glencliff in the Jeff Taylor Christmas Classic tonight at 6:30, Shelbyville closes out the Calendar year 2022 at Blackman in a boy’s only game at 6:00.
