Tullahoma Resumes Curbside Residential Recycling and Re-Opens Some Facilities Beginning Monday, May 4th

City Administrator, Jennifer Moody, announced today that City facilities will begin re-opening on Monday, May 4, 2020.

“We want to take a very measured approach to opening City facilities while we follow guidance from Governor Lee’s Tennessee Pledge and the White House’s, Opening Up America Again,” said Moody.

On Monday May 4, 2020 the list of buildings and services restored include:

Animal Adoptions at Tullahoma Animal Shelter, Tullahoma Airport Terminal Building, and Recycling Collection Services for residential and commercial customers.

More re-openings are expected in the weeks ahead, as city facilities make necessary adjustments to operate in compliance with guidelines issued to similar businesses.  Citizens will notice modifications to workspaces, such as glass at counters and employees continuing to social distance. We ask that the public please maintain a minimum of 6 feet of social distance while in facilities and wear face coverings, including cloth or homemade masks. If you have a cough and fever, we ask that you stay home.

Citizens may join in watching the next City Board meeting scheduled for Monday, May 11, at 5:30 p.m.  It should be the last electronic or virtual meeting of the Board, as city government meetings will resume in person beginning May 18, 2020. Most recently, the Tullahoma Board of Mayor and Aldermen conducted business by video conference and broadcast using Facebook Live, as well as broadcasting to Charter Ch. 193 and Lighttube Ch. 6.

The City will release more information, so please check our Facebook page or Tullahomatn.gov for future releases.

We want to encourage citizens to call in or e-mail for assistance before visiting. Often, transactions can be completed by phone and/or e-mail. Please be advised of the following the City’s current operations:

Public Works asks citizens to slowly catch up with curbside recycling and to not put all the recycling they may have been collecting on the curb the first week recycling resumes. This will allow crews to catch up with the demand over the next few weeks.

The fee for second carts is no longer suspended; beginning Monday, May 4th, additional cart fees will apply to carts delivered after May 4th.  The City is currently out of stock and it may be several weeks before any new carts are received or delivered.  Customers that are currently on a waiting list for additional carts are asked to consider whether they need to cancel their request for an additional cart now that normal services have resumed.
