As heard on 93.9 The Duck as part of the Coffee County Bank Basketball Showcase both Tullahoma basketball teams bounced back from losses Tuesday to sweep the night and the season series with new district foe Spring Hill.
In the girl’s game the Lady Cats came out strong in the second half out scoring Spring Hill 17-8 in the third quarter to rally from down one at the break and seize control of the game in route to a 49-35 win. Morgan Carr led Tullahoma with 14 points while Alivia Bowen added 10. Prairie Stedman led all scorers with 30 points.
The win moves the Lady Cats to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in 8-AAA play. It also snapped a two-game losing streak.
In the night cap Tullahoma scored the game’s first 9 points and never trailed but it was far from an easy win for the Wildcats. Spring Hill cut the lead to as few as 5 on a few occasions late but a big fourth quarter from Ryan Scott who scored all 8 of his points in the final frame helped Tullahoma hold on for a 56-50 win that ended a three-game skid for the Cats. Fellow Senior Joe Duncan led the way for Tullahoma with 14 points. Kai’seanne Brasher led Spring Hill with 19 joined in double figures by Quintaveous Simmons who had 17.
With the Win the Wildcats improved to 6-13 overall and 3-3 in the district. The Victory was also the 300th in Head Coach Jason Welch’s Career.
Tullahoma hits the road to battle Marshall County for the second time this season Tuesday. The Girls game tips off the night at 6:00 with the boys to follow.
Tullahoma has mutually agreed to cancel their non-district game at Cleveland next Saturday February 5th. That game was postponed earlier in the month due to winter weather.
The next broadcast on the Coffee County Bank Basketball Showcase is next Friday February 4th when Tullahoma host Lawrence County. Pregame coverage starts at 5:50 on 93.9 The Duck. Our broadcast is also sponsored by Cooper Steel, Stroop’s Accurate Refrigeration and Tennessee Homes.
