Tullahoma Tennis Advances to Regionals

 On May 1st, Tullahoma High School Boys Tennis defeated Coffee County 4-3 to advance to the district finals. Eli Martinez was the last match standing and brought home the win at 8-6. Ryan Tenison’s score was 8-0, Luke Reagan 8-6, Logan Zimecki 6-8, Eli Martinez 8-6, Chase Banks 4-8, Luke R/Ryan T 8-2, and Chase B/Eli M 7-9. Tullahoma will now play Lincoln County on May 8th at 4 pm at Lincoln Co for the team boys’ district championship.

In other news, on Wednesday, May 3rd and 4th, the individual tennis district was played in Shelbyville. Wildcat Tennis players that advanced to the semi-finals were Daniel Martinez (JV), Isabella Carben (JV), and Ryan Tenision/Luke Reagan (Varsity doubles). Martinez lost 8-1 in the JV semis. Carben lost 8-1 in the JV semis.

In varsity, Reagan/Tenison won 7-5, 6-4 against Coffee County advancing to the district finals. Reagan/Tenison played Lincoln County in the finals and lost 5-7, 3-6, placing 2nd in the District tournament.

The TSSAA states, “Players (boys and girls) who place first and second in the singles and first and second in the doubles division in the district tournament shall qualify for the regional tournament. Players (boys and girls) who place first in the singles and 1st in the doubles division in the regional tournament shall qualify for the state tournament.” Ryan Tenison and Luke Reagan will advance now to the Regional Tournament on May 15th in Lincoln County.

Ashley Abraham, THS tennis coach, states, “I am proud of our team this season for working hard. We have really come together as a team, and each player has improved. We look forward to playing Lincoln County on Monday and will give it our all to bring home the boys’ team championship title. Congratulations to Ryan and Luke on advancing to Regionals. They are strong players and young sophomores with 2 more years of improving and advancing even more. Please join us in congratulating them and wishing them luck! Go Wildcats!”

Will Rabb

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
