
The teams from Tennessee split the opening round of the 2021 College World Series over the weekend in Omaha, Nebraska.
It took twelve innings, but the Vanderbilt Commodores overcame a scrappy Arizona team 7-6 Saturday evening to move into the winners bracket of group 1. The Commodores will face NC State Monday night at 6:00.
Tennessee’s bats were silenced by Virginia Sunday afternoon in a 6-0 shutout loss to the Cavaliers. The Vols now drop in the loser’s bracket in group 2 and must knock off Texas Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 to keep their season alive.
Other games at the College World Series include Stanford and Arizona in an elimination game Monday afternoon at 1:00 and Virginia and Mississippi State in the winner’s bracket Tuesday at 6:00.
