At Monday afternoon’s Coffee County School Meeting Director of Schools Dr. Charles Lawson’s proposed 3-year contract extension and raise was on the agenda.
After 5-0 vote the board voted to postpone their decision to allow time for adequate public notice. School board member Larry Crabtree abstained from the vote, while member Brett Henley was not present for the vote.
State law requires school boards to give 10 calendar days’ notice before extending the contract of, terminating the contract of, or removing a director of schools from office.
