Westwood Earns National Award from VFW

On August 17, 2020, the Manchester, Tennessee Veterans of Foreign Wars All-American Post 10904 presented a national award to staff members of Westwood Middle School.

Westwood Middle School Principal Julie Miller received the VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year Award on behalf of the school from Kimberly King, VFW All-American Post 10904 Commander. Assistant Principal James Dobson received this award at the Post, District and Tennessee State levels.

The award is given annually by the Veterans of Foreign Wars to identify and recognize America’s best educators; and recognizes those teachers who promote American history, traditions, Americanism, civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism.

Dobson received this award for his vast work with the school, students and for his volunteer community service work in the promotion of these values.

He is currently the play-by-play voice of the Coffee County Red Raiders (31 years) on The Rooster 101.5 and can be heard M-F broadcasting our local news. Lucky has done play-by-play for 3,932 (and counting) sports events on Radio & TV. He also served four years as the Public Information Officer for the Coffee Co. Sheriff's Dept. and taught Radio/TV for six years at Grundy County High School.
