Westwood Sweeps Forrest on 8th Grade Night

It was “8th Grade” Night for the Westwood Rockets on Wednesday at Joel Vinson gymnasium.

First, in girls’ play, the Lady Rockets of Westwood Middle School (18-1) defeated the Forrest Lady Rockets from Chapel Hill, 43-25.

Jules Ferrell led Westwood with 19 points putting her over 1,000 career points for her middle school playing days. Ferrell is currently at 1,013. 8th grader Reece Finch had a solid night as she totaled 18 points.

In boys’ action, Westwood dominated Forrest to win 40-23 as the Rockets from Manchester celebrated their 8th graders.

Westwood jumped to a 13-4 lead after the 1st quarter and led 19-7 at halftime. The Forrest Rockets could never get close as Westwood improved to 10-7 on the season.

Kaysen Lowery led the Westwood Rockets with 16 points, Matthew White added 15, and Keller Hatfield chipped in with 5.

Both Westwood Rocket teams will now prepare for the Duck River Valley Conference tournament.
