Wildcats Sweep Marshall County, Lady Cats Fall to Blackman

Tullahoma baseball edged Marshall County 4-3 Tuesday night in Lewisburg to complete a sweep of the Tigers in the first district series of the season.

The Wildcats again struck first taking a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. They expanded their lead with 3 runs in the top of the fifth only to see Marshall County rally to put 3 on the board in the bottom of the frame. However, Tullahoma held the Tigers off the board over the final two innings to hold on for the one run victory.

Evan Tomin led the way offensively for the Wildcats going 2-3 with a walk, an RBI and a Run Scored in four plate appearances. Jayron Morris picked up the win tossing four scoreless innings and allowing just two hits a walk and striking out six. Evan Tomlin pitched a perfect 7th inning striking out two of the three Tigers he faced to pick up the save.

With the win 5th ranked Tullahoma improved to 6-3 on the year and 2-0 in 8-3A play. The Wildcats will play a double header in the Warrior Classic Thursday first facing Overton at 5:00 and Seigel at 7:30. Both games will be played at Seigel High School. Marshall County drops to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the district. The Tigers visit Lewis County tomorrow night at 6:00.  

The next Tullahoma baseball broadcast on 93.9 The Duck is Monday at 6:20 when the Wildcats face Lincoln County in the opener of another district series.

Blackman Tops Tullahoma softball  

In a game moved up 24 hours because of Wednesday’s unfavorable weather forecast Blackman topped Tullahoma 11-5 at the Tullahoma Softball Stadium at East Middle School.

The Lady Blaze took control of the game early with an eight run first and two more in the third to lead 10-0. The Lady Cats responded with two in the fourth and one in the fifth to avoid being run ruled and tacked on two more in the 7th but were unable to dig out of the early hole.

Mallorie Stone led Tullahoma offensively going 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.  Aleigha Rigby was also 3-4 with two RBI.

Zaylan Spencer, who got the start for the Lady Cats took the loss allowing ten runs, seven of them earned, on eight hits, walking four and striking out 1 in two and a third innings.

The loss drops Tullahoma to 1-5 on the season. The Lady Cats are back in action Thursday hosting district foe Marshall Count at 6:00. You can hear that game LIVE on 93.9 The Duck!

Blackman, now 2-6 on the year will visit Riverdale in a district contest on Tuesday at 6:30.
