The Coffee County Lady Raiders picked up their 25th win of the season on Monday night in a hard fought 10-5 defeat of the Lady Hornets of Huntland.
The Lady Raiders jumped to a 4-0 lead after 3 innings with 2 outs. Huntland battled their way back with 2 runs in the top of the 5th only to see Coffee County 3 more to make it 7-2 after five. The Hornets stung Coffee County for 3 more in the top of the 6th to cut the lead down to 2 runs 7-5. In the bottom half of the inning would plate 3 more runs to make it 10-5 and Huntland went scoreless in the 7th.
Chesnie Cox had a nice night at the plate for the Lady Raiders as she was 2-for-4, scoring twice and she knocked in 2 runs to earn the Crazy Daisies Player of the Game.
Olivia Evans was 1-for-1, scoring 3 times and she added an RBI.
Kaitlyn Davis was the winning pitcher, and she also had a hit and 2 RBI as Coffee County improved to 25-4-1 on the season.
The District 8-AAA tournament is up next on Friday night at home when the Lady Raiders play host to the winner of Shelbyville and Columbia who play of Thursday in Shelbyville.
