Coffee County Baseball Falls in Opening Game of District Tournament; Next Game is Friday

Coffee County opened play in the District 9-AAAA baseball tournament on Wednesday night at Spring Hill as they took on Columbia.

Cole Pippenger led off the game with a home run. The Raiders added two more runs in the second inning on a Brendon Sheppard double. They were leading 3-0 after two, and the game was looking good for Coffee County.

The Lions took control of the game in the third, scoring two runs, three in the fourth, one in the fifth, and added five more runs in the sixth to take an 11-3 win on only six hits.

The Red Raiders committed three errors and distributed 11 walks in the first-round game. The loss puts Coffee County in the losers’ bracket on Friday against the loser of Thursday’s Spring Hill and Columbia game. Friday’s game will be back at Spring Hill, no matter who the opponent is, at 4 PM. If the Red Raiders win, they’ll play again at 7 PM.
