Coffee County Basketball Easily Picks Up Two Wins on Monday

The Coffee County basketball teams hosted Spring Hill on Monday night at “The Patch” in Manchester.

In the girls’ game, Coffee County continued its roll through District 9-AAAA play, defeating the Lady Raiders from Maury County, 61-25.

The Lady Red Raiders jumped out to a 21-4 lead after the first quarter and 39-13 at the half. Coffee County poured it on in the third quarter, pushing the contest into the mercy rule with a 61-18 advantage.

Dr Jay Trussler/Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game Olivia Vinson led the Lady Red Raiders with 20 points. Natalie Barnes contributed 14 on the night, followed by Jules Ferrell with 8 points, Channah Gannon finished with 7, and Audri Patton added 6 points.

Coffee County improved to 24-3 overall and 8-0 is District 9-AAAA play. Spring Hill fell to 10-15 and 2-6.

Coach Andrew Taylor got to empty his bench in the boys’ game as every Red Raider got playing time in the 55-26 blowout win over Spring Hill.

Only one Coffee County player got into double-figures as Brady Wright had another big night as he led all scorers with 17, all in the first half. He only played about half of the third quarter before resting the rest of the game. He was named the Dr Jay Trussler/Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game.

Eleven Red Raiders scored in the game, led by Wright, with Cayden Trail and Jayden Carter adding 7 points each. Camden Hunt had 6, followed by Caleb McCall with 6, 3 points each for Luke Campbell and Jackson Shemwell, and 2 points each for David Lewis, Lane Fann, Kaysen Lowery, and Cooper Reed.

Coffee County improved its overall record to 15-11 and, most importantly, 6-2 in district play. Spring Hill dropped to 2-19 overall and 2-6 in District 9-AAAA.

The Red Raiders will host Lincoln County in important district games on Tuesday, and it’s Senior Night. The Lady Raiders will secure the #1 seed in the district standings with a win. They beat Lincoln County by 6 on Saturday. The CC boys are looking to tie Columbia with a win over a team they lost to on Saturday. The Red Raiders must beat Lincoln County and Spring Hill again on Thursday to have a tie. Columbia has one district game remaining against Shelbyville, a team they defeated easily on Monday.
