Coffee County Football drops game at Shelbyville

The Shelbyville Golden Eagles came into the game against the Coffee County Red Raiders averaging over 30 points per game, and that average continued after Friday night’s game. The Eagles won the non-region matchup 38-17.

Raider Quarterback John Massengill was starting his first game and will be counted on for the rest of the season because Cole Pippenger is out for the season with a shoulder injury. Massengill was 8-of-16 for 88 yards and one INT.

Running back Caiden Martin led the ground game with 17 carries for 62 yards and a 15-yard TD run.

Jayden Carter added a 5-yard run touchdown run and made a big catch on the drive. Carter’s play on offense and solid play on defense earned him the Rooster 101.5 Giles Dunn Diamond Company Player of the Game.

Manny Gonzales was 1-for-2 on field goals for Coffee County. His made FG was from 32 yards.

Shelbyville’s offense piled up 345 yards in total offense. Micah Threat led the way with three big catches for 126 yards and a touchdown.

The Red Raiders drop to 1-2 overall and head to Murfreesboro on Friday night to open region play against the 3-0 Siegel Stars, who are averaging 51 points per game. You can hear the game on The Rooster 101.5, www.rooster1015.com, or the Rooster 101.5 app.
