Tullahoma Tennis getting it done on the Court

The Tullahoma High School Tennis Team, coached by Ashley Abraham and Assistant Coach Michael Martin, has had a slamming 2024 season. The team consists of 23 players. The Wildcat Boys team: Logan Zimecki (12th), Luke Reagan (11th), Ryan Tenison (11th), Eli Martinez (10th), Zyler Spinner (11th), Hayden Good (9th), Gage Allen (9th), Joaquin Tenaglia Canut (10th), Tommy Pham (10th), Edgar Torres Mata (10th), and Norman Zhang (11th). The Wildcat Girls Team: Natalie Turpin (12th), Lexa Barnes (11th), Hope Thomas (10th), Isla Scott (9th), Abagail Cortines (9th), Mary Pierce Jordan (9th), Karlee Lusk (9th), Addison Arnold (10th), Peyton Bell (10th), Lynn Wilkinson (10th), Cambree Moyers (10th), and Adyson Orr (10th).

Tullahoma Tennis team

The Wildcat boys went undefeated during their season. The varsity team, consisting of Ryan Tenison, Luke Reagan, Eli Martinez, Logan Zimecki, and Zyler Spinner, won the team District finals on May 6 against Lincoln Co. They will play Cookeville High School on May 10 at 10 a.m. at Tullahoma High School to battle for the Regional Team Champion Title.

In the Individual Districts on May 1st and 2nd in Shelbyville, Tullahoma took home a Varsity Doubles District Champion Title with Ryan Tenison/Luke Reagan. Gage Allen won the JV Singles District title. Ryan Tenison and Luke Reagan will advance to the Individual Regionals Tournament on May 13 in Lincoln County.

Other players who won in individual Districts were Logan Zimecki against Rafa Silva (Franklin Co) 8-5 and was defeated against his teammate Eli Martinez. Eli Martinez, seeded 4th in the tournament, won his first match against Talan McMeen (Lincoln Col) 8-5 and against Logan Zimecki 8-1. He was then defeated by the District Singles Champion, Matteo Lecito, in the semi-finals. Lexa Barnes and partner Hope Thomas defeated Black/Contreas (Coffee Co) 8-0 and lost against Lincoln Co. 8-1. Natalie Turpin defeated teammate Mary Pierce Jordan 8-3 and lost against Olivia Swindal 8- 0. JV boy’s singles player Tommy Pham defeated Evan Coultas from Lawrence Co 6-0 and lost against the JV 2nd place winner Christian Turner from Lincoln Co. Gage Allen defeated Christian Turner in the JV singles finals 8-4, taking home the trophy. Luke Regan/Ryan Tenison breezed through the bracket with a Bye first round, 6-0 6-0 in the semi-finals and 6-2 6-0 in the finals.

Awarded All District from Tullahoma were Eli Matinez, Luke Regan, and Ryan Tenison. Coach Ashley Abraham was awarded the 2024 All-District Boys Coach of the Year.

The Wildcats are not finished. The varsity boys will play against Cookeville on May 10 for the Regional title. Regan/Tenison will play on May 13 to battle for the Doubles Individual Regional Title. Coach Abraham states, “I am proud of the work our players have put in this season. Great tennis has been played, and these players have represented their school and themselves well. We will battle till the end and close out an amazing 2024 season! Go Wildcats!”

Lucky has done play-by-play for 3,993 (and counting) sports events on Radio & TV. He also served four years as the Public Information Officer for the Coffee Co. Sheriff's Dept. and taught Radio/TV for six years at Grundy County High School.
