A huge night from Javarin Otey powered Stewarts Creek past Tullahoma in the 2023 season opener Friday night at Wilkins Stadium.
Tullahoma struck first offensively closing their 8 play opening drive with a 29 yard touchdown pass from Mason Bratcher to Khnai Johnson midway through the first.
Stewarts Creek responded with a 49 yard rushing TD from Otey on the next drive. The Red Hawks took the lead with less than a minute remaining in the half whe Otey took a screen pass 83 yards.
Otey went 66 yards on the ground on the first drive of the second half for Stewarts Creek to expand the lead to 21-7.
After the opening possession Tullahoma’s offense struggled to find a rhythm punting six times, turning the ball over on downs three times and ending the game with an interception.
