Three Grundy County residents now face several charges, including attempted murder, following a Christmas night pursuit in Bridgeport, Alabama.
According to Bridgeport Police Chief Charles Bunch, officers noticed a vehicle swerving Christmas night into the early morning hours of December 26th on Highway 72.
When they attempted to pull the car over, Chief Bunch says the driver would not stop. Officers began to chase the vehicle down Highway 72 towards Stevenson, Alabama.
According to Bunch, one of the passengers started shooting at the officers. Bunch estimates at least 20 shots were fired. No one was hurt.
Eventually, the driver crashed into a concrete culvert. Three people were arrested: Terry Nunley, Christian Street, and Harley Atterton.
Some of the charges the trio face include:
- Driving Under the Influence
- Assault-Reckless Endangerment
- Assault-Reckless Endangerment
- Attempting to Elude a Police Officer
- Resisting Arrest
- Buying/Receiving Stolen Property
- Attempted Murder
- Possession of Burglars Tools
- Fugitive from Justice
As of Monday afternoon, they were all in the Jackson County, Alabama jail.
Nunley is also facing charges from November 22nd burglary and vandalism of The Caverns in Pelham.
