Fatal Accident in Coffee County Takes the Life of Teenager

A fatal accident occurred on Sunday morning at 1:17 CT on Cat Creek Road at Lake Road in Coffee County.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the driver was a teenager from Coffee County. The THP does not release the names of juvenile victims. On Target News has learned through various sources that the victim was Colton Stephens.

The THP report says the Ford F-150 was traveling on Cat Creek Rd. and ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree lying on the shoulder. The vehicle continued down the shoulder of the roadway, striking part of a bridge and then another tree. When the vehicle came to its final rest, it caught on fire.

We have confirmed other teenagers were injured in the early morning accident, but no names or conditions were given by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
