An inmate at the Grundy County Jail escaped custody Monday morning.
Deputies are looking for 56-year-old Ronald Pernell Fults, who is facing several charges, including DUI, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and 15 traffic charges.
Fults was leaving the courthouse along with other inmates, all shackled in the parking lot.
Sheriff Gunter says a deputy saw Fults “reaching down by his ankles” and then saw him “throwing his shackles.”
Fults was last seen running northeast from the courthouse into a wooded area.
Deputies set up a perimeter and launched a drone but couldn’t find the inmate.
He is a 56 years old white male with brown/white short hair, blue eyes, and a goatee.
Sheriff Gunter says if you see Fults, do not approach him, as he’s considered dangerous. Instead, call 911 or the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office at 931-692-3466.
