Manchester Man Arrested in Macon County for Solicitation of a Minor by Electronic Means

A Manchester, TN, man has been charged with Solicitation of a Minor by Electronic Means following an undercover operation in Macon County.

Law enforcement began investigating James A. Tyler, age 37, after he messaged an undercover Facebook account.

During the course of their conversations, Tyler was told he was speaking with a 14-year-old girl. Tyler asked the undercover if she was on birth control and agreed to meet at a park in Lafayette, TN, for a sexual act. He requested that the undercover show up with no underwear on.

After confirming he was on his way to the meeting, officers set up around the park.

They observed Tyler pull into the parking lot, get out and walk on October 21, 2023. Once he made his way back to his vehicle, officers moved in and placed him under arrest.

He was charged with one count of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor. His bond was set at $7,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Macon County General Sessions court on November 15, 2023.

Information from the Macon County Chronicle.
