Shelbyville Mother Admits Killing Her 12-year-old Son

The Shelbyville Police Department is continuing to investigate the tragic death of 12-year-old Esteban Sylvester. He was found deceased in his residence on Barksdale Lane.

On Monday (July 17th), at approximately 9:50 pm, the boy’s father arrived at the residence and discovered his son unresponsive. Residents nearby came to the aid of the father and called 911.

According to Deputy Chief Brian Crews, 32 year-old Patricia Sylvester admitted to the intentional killing of her son, Esteban. Sylvester. She also admitted to the attempted murder of her other son, 4-year-old Rafael Sylvester.

Investigators began searching for the boy’s mother and a 4-year-old sibling. An endangered child alert was issued for 4-year-old Rafael and his mother. The child and mother were located Tuesday morning after she traveled into Coffee County. Patricia Sylvester is being housed at the Bedford County Jail.

Shelbyville Police will release more information later.
