Tullahoma Drops Road District Contests at Lincoln county

Tullahoma basketball fell in a pair of games to district rival Lincoln County on the road Tuesday night.

In the girls game the Lady Cats fell down 9-3 in the first 2:20 of the first quarter before dominating the rest of the half to lead 24-21 at the break. However the Lady Falcons limited Tullahoma to just 3 third quarter point to regain the lead 31-27 heading into the fourth. That margin would prove to be the difference as Lincoln County held off a late surge from the Lady Cats handing them their second straight district loss 44-40.

NyJah Gibbs led Tullahoma with 17points while the Lady falcons were paced by 21 from Abby Brian. The Lady Cats are now 12-9 overall and 3-2 in 8-3A play. Lincoln County improves to 19-2 overall and 5-0 in the district.

In the night cap a read hot shooting performance from the Falcons sunk the Cats 72-45.

Lincoln county’s Maddox Franklin nailed 8 threes and finished with a game high 28 points. His teammate Jack Massey also finished in double figures adding in 23 of his own. Tullahoma’s Xavier Ferrell had another strong night scoring 13 to pace the Cats offensively for the second straight game.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 5-16 overall and 0-5 in district action. Meanwhile the Falcons improved to 4-13 on the season and 1-4 in 8-3A.

Tullahoma hits the road Friday to battle Spring Hill, the Lady Cats tip off the night at 6:00 with the boys game to follow. Lincoln County travels to Marshall County Friday with that double header also set for 6:00.

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
