Tullahoma Student Archers bring home National and State Awards

Tullahoma archers performed well this season, and several individuals won state awards. Additionally, three individuals and a team were crowned national champions when they competed at the 2024 Eastern S3DA Indoor National Championship in Owensboro, Kentucky.

“As a parent and coach, I could not be more proud and blessed with how our team performed at Indoor State and Nationals this year,” said Taylor’s Archery Coach Josh Harris. “The hard work, time, and dedication they put in to achieve their goals is inspiring. I would like to thank Tracy, Sandy Taylor, and our archers’ parents for their support, time, and dedication in making this indoor season a success. This year’s accomplishments would not have been possible without them. Teamwork makes the dream work.”

Hunter Harris won the S3DA National Championship in the Male Open competition in the Eagle Division, which features 9 to 11-year-old archers. Hunter scored a perfect 300 points during his national championship victory. Hunter also won the Tennessee Championship in the same event and was named Shooter of the Year.

Based on their performances, the Taylor’s Archery Eagle team claimed the National Championship against 73 other teams, combining for a total score of 1,495 points. The local Eagle Squad previously took first place in the state and featured three TCS students, Hunter Harris, Kensley Hartman, and Evelyn Todd.

The Tullahoma team totaled 1,301 points, finishing five points behind the first-place team from Central Michigan, which totaled 1,306 points. The local Junior Eagle team previously captured the Tennessee Championship.

Ashley Scott hoisted the S3DA National Championship after she captured the top spot in the Olympic Recurve Female competition in the Young Adult (15-18) division. Ashley scored 276 points at nationals. She also claimed a state championship and was named Shooter of the Year.

Jackson Parris added a 14th-place finish at nationals in the Young Adult division in the Pins competition. Jackson totaled 299 points at nationals. He previously captured the Tennessee Championship and was named Shooter of the Year. Harleigh James also took third place in the state competition in the Olympic Recurve female competition.

“Tullahoma has a longstanding history of producing some incredible archers, and this year’s success is just further proof,” said TCS Director of Schools, Dr. Catherine Stephens. “I am so proud of these local archery teams, competitors, and their coaches for their continued dedication to the sport. All that practice time shows in their results, which is incredible.”
