11 Tullahoma High School Singers Named to Midstate and Freshman Choruses

Tullahoma High School recently had 11 singers recognized for their vocal skills, as they received state honors late last month.

“This year, we had several choir students audition for the midstate and freshman honor choruses,” said THS Choral Director Melissa Hinds. “The audition process is rigorous for students, and I am very proud of all who auditioned, as we have some wonderful students in the choir program at THS. Of those who auditioned, we had 11 that successfully qualified for their respective chorus, and this is a testament to their hard work and dedication as well as the support that we have from our choir families and administration in Tullahoma.”

Junior Hannah Warta was selected for the All-State Chorus, while senior Anne Duncan was named an alternate. The All-State Chorus will perform at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville on April 13.

Additionally, JosEllen Turrentine, Shelbie Penny, Ezekeil Noon, Alex Tobitt, Hannah Warta, and Anne Duncan were named to the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association Midstate Chorus. The MTVA Midstate Chorus will perform in Murfreesboro on Nov. 14 at Bell Aire Baptist Church at 6 p.m.

Tullahoma also saw Wesley Hanson, Valerie Pacheco, Aaliyah Morris, Peyton Pinegar, and Elina Spector named to the Freshman Honor Choir. These students will perform with the Freshman Honor Choir on Jan. 25 at Belle Aire Baptist Church.

“I am consistently blown away by the amazing voices that we have in the various Tullahoma High School choirs,” said TCS Director of Schools Dr. Catherine Stephens. “It is always a pleasure getting to listen to these students perform, and it is tremendous to see these 11 students get recognized for their skills. I can’t begin to express how proud I am of those who auditioned, our THS choir program overall, and their director, Melissa Hinds.”
