On June 17th, 2021, President Joe Biden signed into law Juneteenth National Independence Day a federal holiday. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, which is when enslaved black people in Texas were told that slavery had been abolished. They were informed more than two years after they were freed under President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863.

Being the curators of this event Royce Massengill, Jr. & Jamie Moorehead of Beyond Strength believe in edutainment- education through different forms of art.
