In 2020 the annual Safe on the Square trick or treat event was cancelled by the Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center because of Covid-19. Another group, Rural Legends Car Club decided they wanted to sponsor a Halloween trunk or treat at the downtown square, now that event has been cancelled.
The City of Manchester has announced the application for the Rural Legends First Annual Trunk or Treat event on October 30 has been withdrawn by the applicants.
Concerns in the public and on social media had come into play over the last week because one of the organizers of the event is on the state sex offender registry.
