Free Hunting Day is Saturday in Tennessee

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s (TWRA) annual “Free Hunting Day,” an event to help create interest in hunting, is this Saturday (August 26). It’s also the start of squirrel season.

Residents will be open to hunting without a hunting license and other standard requirements for the day, but hunters are reminded to ask permission if hunting on private lands they do not own. Most Wildlife Managed Areas will be open to hunters seeking public access.
