As you get ready to file your 2023 taxes, the Internal Revenue Service is launching its free tax filing system. Direct File is the new pilot program from the IRS. It’s only available in 12 states, including Tennessee.
According to the IRS website, the new pilot program comes with step-by-step guidance and real-time support, which the IRS says can give you some reassurance as you file.
You can use your smartphone, tablet, or computer to file. It’s important to know that there are some qualifications you need to meet to use the system.
