On Friday night at Warren County High School, Coffee County softballers exploded for 17 hits, winning 12-2 over the Lady Pioneers.
Ella Arnold had three hits, three RBI, and scored two runs to help lead the Lady Raiders to the District 9-AAAA win. Savannah Cooper had two singles and 4 RBI. Chesnie Cox was 3-for-3, scored three times, and added an RBI. Jalyn Moran, Paisley Campbell, and Channah Gannon all had two hits. All 17 hits were singles.
Lily Norman picked up the win in the circle. She pitched all five innings, striking out 12 and allowing only 3 hits.
On Saturday afternoon at Terry Floyd Field, Coffee County hosted Shelbyville in district play and won another run-rule 14-0 win to improve to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in District 9-AAAA.
Savannah Cooper was named the Dr Jay Trussler/Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game. She went 2-for-2 with two doubles, knocked in three runs, and scored twice. Moran had a bases-loaded triple to score three. Willow Carden and Cox added two hits each.
Lily Norman was the Lady Raiders’ winning pitcher. She pitched four innings, allowing one hit and striking out six batters.
Coffee County will host Columbia on Tuesday. This is a change in the schedule, as the Lady Raiders will now travel to Columbia on April 23.
