Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Wants County Budget Passed

The Lincoln County Commission will be holding a special called meeting on August 1st at 7:30 pm at the Lincoln County Courthouse. The purpose of the meeting will be another attempt to pass the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget. This meeting, like all other commission meetings, is open to the public.

The sheriff’s department has stated they currently have grant funds available to place more School Resource Officers in schools. In the statement, the sheriff’s department is unable to take any action on this needed resource until a budget is passed.

In the Facebook post, the sheriff’s department states that a deadline of August 30, 2023, is quickly approaching, and simply requesting an extension is not that simple; Lincoln County may not qualify for that. The sheriff’s department goes on to say that inviting the state comptroller’s office to Lincoln County to set a tax rate and budget should be left off the table.
