A large fire was reported at 1:26 Tuesday morning in downtown Decherd. Apparently, a passing motorist saw fire in the building and called 911. A responding Decherd officer reported seeing fire in the old Holts Grocery building and said all downtown Decherd was full of smoke.
At least five fire departments responded to the scene: Decherd, Winchester, Estill Springs, Alto, Oak Grove, and Tullahoma.
The Old Holts Grocery building collapsed, and heavy damage occurred to at least two adjacent buildings. This is the row of buildings across from the Post Office.
E Main St was closed Tuesday afternoon while crews cleared debris from the roadway.
