Tullahoma basketball hnonored their seniors and closed the season with a pair of emphatic victories over Giles County Thursday night at Tullahoma High School.
In the girls game the Lady Wildcats claimed the District 8-3A regular Championship with a 70-11 victory over Giles County.
Mclayne Bobo led the charge with 22 points. Njyah Gibbs added in 12, Lakaiyah Barnes came off the bench to score 11, Lilly Melton finished with 8 points, Isabella Lidstrom tallied 7, Brindley Ducan put up 4 points and Emilee Shuran posted 2 points for the Lady cats who close the regular season 13-9 overall, 9-1 in district play and on an eight game winning streak.
Caydee Pipkins led Giles County with 8 points and Eniya Garrett added 3 for the Lady Bobcats who close the regular season 4-22 overall and 0-10 in 8-3A competition.
In the night cap the Wildcats blitzed the Bobcats in the second half outscoring Giles County 33-13 to roll to a 64-37 win, snapping a four game skid.
Xavier Ferrell led Tullahoma with 10 points, DeAndre Jenkins added in 9 points off the bench, Jaiden Sanchez and Austin Tinnon each finished with 8, Jayden Thompson and Khani Johnson each tallied 6 points, Maliak Grizzard had 5 points, Sam Bobo scored 4 points and Lucas Price added 2 for the Wildcats who closed the regular season 13-10 overall and 5-5 in the district.
Jakiyah Englette led Giles County with 10 points, Casen howard added 5, KT Turner and Latarius Brewer eached scored 4 Malachi Brown and Jaceion Coffee each tallied 3 and Dashaun Howard had 2 for the Bobcats who close the regular season 15-12 overall and 2-8 in 8-3A play.
At halftime of the games Tullahoma honored their senior basketball players; Lilly Melton, Nyjah Gibbs, Emilee Shuran, Malik Grizzard, Bryson Steverson and Jaiden Sanchez.
As District Champions the Lady Wildcats have earned a bye into the semifinals of the District Tournament which will be played at 7:00 next Friday February 17 at Marshall County High School vs the winner of the Franklin County-Marshall County first round game which is set for Monday at 6:00 in Lewisburg.
The seeding for the boys district tournament is pending tiebreakers and will be set at today’s district meeting in Lewisburg. Once that is determined a full schedule will be posted to ontargetnews.com.
