Tullahoma Shuts Out Dekalb, Advances to Region Championship

Evan Tomlin tossed a three hit shutout, striking out 13, as Tullahoma baseball downed Dekalb County 8-0 Thursday in the first round of the Region 4-3A tournament at Grider Stadium in Tullahoma. 

The Wildcats jumped out a 1-0 lead in the first thanks to a Tomlin RBI single scoring Andrew Fulmer who led off the game with a single and stole a base. 

Fulmer extended the cats led to 2-0 in the second with an RBI single that scored Hunter Hogan who had reached on a walk. 

Despite just two hits, five walks a sac fly and three Dekalb County pitchers The Cats exploded for four runs in the third sending nine batters to the plate.

Tullahoma capped the scoring with two more runs in the 5th after a trio of one out singles from Phillip Lemon Trevor Cole and Fulmer along with an RBI ground out from Baylen Tuten. 

With the win the Wildcats improve to 28-6 on the season and will host Upperman in the Region Championship ga,me Saturday at noon. A win means they would host a sectional series next week while a loss would push them into a losers bracket game for the second spot in the sectionals at 6:00 against the winner of the 3:00 Lawrence County-Dekalb County elimination game. 93.9 The Duck will provide coverage of all Tullahoma games.

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
