Tullahoma softball falls to Florence in rough matchup

Tullahoma Lady Cats saw a tough field of competition and couldn’t recover in a 13-3 loss to the Florence Falcons on Friday. Florence took the lead on a double in the first inning. 

The Wildcats struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Falcons, giving up 13 runs. 

Florence got things started in the first inning. Montgomery doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. 

Florence scored seven runs in the second inning. The Falcons’ big inning was driven by singles by Scott, Montgomery, and Malone, an error on a ball put in play by Brown, a double by Todd, and by Gomez. 

Brown pitched Florence to victory. The bulldog surrendered three runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out one. 

Katy Bean took the loss for Tullahoma. Bean allowed six hits and eight runs over one inning, walking one. 

Tullahoma Lady Cats racked up eight hits in the game. Carlie Baker, Emeri Saunders, and Erin Douglas all collected multiple hits for Tullahoma. Baker led the Lady Cats with three hits in three at bats. 

Florence had 12 hits in the game. Montgomery, Malone, Todd, and Martin all managed multiple hits for Florence. Montgomery went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Falcons in hits. Florence didn’t commit a single error in the field. Todd had the most chances in the field with six.
