The Tennessee Valley Authority said Wednesday that their preliminary peak power demand was 34,526 megawatts, setting an all-time TVA record. The previous record was 33,482 megawatts, set in August of 2007.
TVA now says customers no longer have to avoid using major appliances to conserve energy.
Most of the area saw temperatures dip below zero early Wednesday morning and the feels like temp was near -15.
