Wildcats Down Falcons in Road Region Battle

The Tullahoma Wildcats dominated the Lincoln County Falcons 39-14 Friday Night at Meadows-Thompson Stadium in Fayetteville. 

The Cats offense played on a short field most of the night as five turnovers forced defensively and soild play from special teams in the kick return game set Tullahoma up in prime field position throughout the evening. 

After Lincoln County received the opening kickoff and went three and out the Wildcats got on the board on play one when Mason Bratcher hit Jalen Hill for a 53 yard touchdown. PAT good made it 7-0 Tullhoma :57 seconds into the game. 

Will Hyden set the Cats up with another short field with an interception to end the Falcons second drive. Starting at the Lincoln County 35 Tullahoma went up two scores 6 plays later on a ½ yard rushing touchdown from Ryan Denby. The PAT was no good but Tullahoma led 13-0 with 6:22 left in the first. 

Lincoln County answered back on the next drive going 80 yards in 11 plays getting in the end zone on a 2 yard run from Hunter Hammons. PAT good made it 13-7 with 1:34 left in the first. 

Marvancy Johnson ripped off a 27 yard run to set the stage for the third Wildcat score of the first quarter when Johnson pushed it in from a yard out 3 plays later. Again the PAT was no good but Tullahoma led 19-7 with :21 second left in the first. 

After a Falcon turnover of downs Tullahoma extended the lead with Grant Chadwick’s first field goal of the night from 38 yards out pushing the Wildcat lead to 22-7 with 7:31 left in the first half. 

Hyden’s second interception of the night set up Chadwick’s second field goal of the quarter from 29 yards to put the Cats up 25-7 with 2:49 left in the second. 

Lincoln County was knocking on the door right before the half put Liam Grider picked off Maddux Franklin for the third time in the half and returned it 100 yards to push the Wildcat lead to 32-7 as time expired on the first half. 

After a sack fumble recovery by Tullahoma the Cats added a score in the third as Johnson scored his second rushing touchdown of the night from 8 yards out. 

Following the second sack fumble in as many possessions Lincoln County got their final score of the evening on a pick 6 by Tucker Bussell to start the 4th. Quarter. From there the teams traded a pair of Tullahoma punts and a Falcons turnover on downs before Lincoln County ran out the clock on a four score Wildcat win. 

The victory improved Tullahoma to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Region 5-5A. Lincoln County fell to 2-3 on the year and 1-2 in region play. 

The Falcons visit Giles County next week at 7:00 while Tullahoma host Columbia on  Homecoming. Coverage on 93.9 The Duck, presented by Tennessee Homes, starts with the Lester-Green-McCord and Thoma Insurance Wildcat Countdown at 6:30.

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
