The Franklin County and Shelbyville football teams will be eligible for the playoffs in 2021. The programs appeared before the TSSAA board of control, at their June meeting Wednesday. The board unanimously voted to rescind the restrictive probation, which carries a postseason ban, effective immediately.
The playoff bans were part of a larger set of punishments stemming from a third quarter fight between the then region rivals in the third quarter of a 43-10 rout of the Rebels by the Golden Eagles. Both programs were fined, numerous players were suspended, and each school made voluntary reductions in offseason workout and practice time in the wake of the incident.
Long time district and region foes, Franklin County and Shelbyville are not set to meet on the gridiron in 2021.
