Inmate Escapes Coffee County Justice Center; Later Captured

According to District Attorney Craig Northcott, Terrence Brook Moore was in Coffee County General Sessions Court on Tuesday for a probation violation hearing. He was placed on probation for 11 months and 29 days after pleading guilty to Theft on or about February 5, 2019. A petition to revoke his probation was filed in January 2020 due to him violating the terms of his violation.

Northcott added that on Tuesday Moore entered a guilty plea to violating his probation. A hearing was held to determine the appropriate punishment for such. After that hearing, Judge Jere Ledsinger ordered that he serve six (6) months in the Coffee County Jail and then complete the balance of his sentence on probation. He was taken into custody at that time.

After the conclusion of court proceedings, Moore was being transported from the Coffee County Justice Center to the Coffee County Jail. At some point in that process, he escaped the custody of the deputies while still handcuffed and ran from the scene.

According to law enforcement a search ensued near the the area of the Justice Center. Moore was captured while trying to hide from officers in what appeared to be a dry ditch area near Rose St.
