On Monday night the Central Tennessee Regional Solid Waste Planning Board voted to no longer receive garbage from outside the board’s area. The solid waste board is comprised of Cannon, Coffee, Rutherford and Warren counties.
This stops all trash, especially Nashville’s, from coming into Rutherford County by December 31, 2022.
Davidson County contributes almost 47% of the total garbage to the landfill. Eight other counties from outside the board’s region brings in 23% of the total amount (Sumner, Wilson, Williamson, Maury, Lincoln, Bedford, Franklin, and Overton).
The landfill is to cease accepting of out-of-region waste by no later than December 31, 2022.
There is a possibility that Republic Services, who owns the landfill could make some type of legal maneuver.
