On Saturday, February 17, 2024, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office focused heavily on vehicle safety. They started the morning by helping citizens wanting their child safety seats checked for proper installation. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is happy to announce that they properly reinstalled 25 car seats during the 2-hour event and provided education on current child passenger safety laws.
Continuing into the evening, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint for four hours on Hwy 41-A (Dinah Shore Blvd) at the Winchester/Decherd City limits.
During the Sobriety Checkpoint, a total of 425 vehicles were checked. Of the vehicles checked, 21 warnings were issued for violations ranging from light law and registration violations. Standardized Field Sobriety Testing was conducted on three individuals, with no arrests made.
Fourteen Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Deputies carried out these two events. A total of seven Deputies were on regular shifts with no overtime needed. The other seven Deputies were working through a grant provided by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office to our agency with a specified goal of enforcing Tennessee’s driving under the influence laws.
