Fatal Pedestrian Crash on I-24 near Monteagle

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is seeking public assistance. A fatal hit-and-run crash occurred on Interstate 24 in Marion County.

According to the preliminary investigation, a female who apparently was walking was struck by a vehicle on Saturday, March 30, possibly between 3:45 AM and 4:30 AM. The incident occurred on I-24 eastbound around mile marker 138 on Monteagle Mountain. The hit-and-run vehicle continued eastbound, leaving the scene without notifying law enforcement. The deceased female was located by state troopers on April 1.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have information about the driver or vehicle’s whereabouts is urged to contact THP investigators. Call the emergency dispatch center at 423-954-2130, select option zero, and request to speak to Sergeant Matt’s Minter.
